Children’s Books

Children’s worlds and imagination are full of magic – of course, because they entered this constructed place, and each new thing that they learn is a secret to unlocking this world we live in. Their world is color, poetry, honesty, curiosity and fancy, and that is what I try to capture.

Chango’s Journey to the Stars, written and illustrated by Tamara Gould

Change's Journey to the Stars is a fictional tale about a dog's loving life and subsequent journey to the stars. Abstractly, it deals with death and dying in a gentle and magical way, full of love and positivity. Children who have not experienced the death of a pet read it as it is written, as a journey in and of itself. Children who have experienced the death of a pet or loved one can feel the joy of having loved that pet or person, the comfort of knowing that their pet or loved one loved them endlessly, and they are following their dreams.

The Tale of Bootsy Long Paws is a true story about a small, black dog who travels by boat to visit the Seven Wonder of the World. It is a hand-painted accordion book, done in one-take. I first wrote the story in my daughter’s school notebook when she was six years old. And then I decided to paint it.
